An Insight

A friend of mine works with mentally disturbed children. The results she achieves seem miraculous. She enters a room of children who are bouncing off the walls, and within a short time they are calm. I asked her to tell me her secret. She said, "I see the innate health in each child, and I connect with only that." She added, "I ignore reactions from their personalities and address their health. When they realize I see their essential wholeness, our interactions transform."

As I listened to her, I realized my approach to leadership coaching is much the same. We all have a unique genius that is, at times, hidden behind our personalities. Many have said to me, "I work with you because you see me." As I see their genius, I help them see it. I then coach them on how to integrate this genius into their leadership and lives.
